In the close surroundings of Bali Mandala, as across the rest of Bali, vibrant temple festivals are a common occurrence. These celebrations are as diverse as they are frequent, ranging from full moon ceremonies and spiritual village purification rituals to melasti ceremonies, where sacred temple objects are brought to the water for cleansing<\/p>\n

You\u2019ll likely have the opportunity to attend one of these vibrant temple festivals, where foreigners are warmly welcomed.
\nThe attire of the Balinese varies depending on the occasion, ranging from colorful ensembles to predominantly white outfits.<\/p>\n

One of the most captivating temple dances is the Pendet dance, performed by a group of women. Their movements are exquisitely graceful, symbolizing respect and gratitude to the gods. The dancers move in perfect harmony, scattering flower petals at the end of the performance as a blessing.<\/p>\n

In episode four of the “Our Team” series, we introduce you to Mega, a valued member of our friendly kitchen team and our “secret” chef. Why secret? Because there\u2019s no hierarchy in the kitchen\u2014the team collaborates as equals. Still, Mega often takes the lead when it comes to new recipes and quietly manages many tasks behind the scenes.<\/p>\n

What is your full name?<\/em>
\nMy full name is Komang Supartini. Komang means \u2018baby\u2019 or \u2018guarded child\u2019 in Bali.
\nThe name Komang is used for the third-born child.<\/p>\n

How long have you been at Bali Mandala?<\/em>
\nOh, quite a long time\u2014since 2005 to be precise (laughs).<\/p>\n

What do you do at Bali Mandala?<\/em>
\nI work as a cook. In addition to cooking, this includes shopping at the market, ordering from suppliers and, of course, I like to take part in the cooking classes for the guests.<\/p>\n

Is there a dish that is your favorite to prepare?<\/em>
\nII like to cook everything, but especially Balinese cuisine, such as Moringa Urab. This is traditional urab, a light and flavorful vegetable salad with roasted coconut and moringa leaves. Delicious and very healthy!<\/p>\n

What do you do in your free time?<\/em>
\nI also enjoy being in the kitchen in my free time. Or I google new recipes to try out.<\/p>\n

What is your favorite thing about your home country Bali?<\/em>
\nFor me, the Balinese tradition and culture is very important and living together in our community. That’s also what I really appreciate about Bali.<\/p>\n<\/div>
