Lichtzeichen Bali Mandala The Festival of Lights at Christmas

Bali Mandala News 2/2023

Autumn is coming, slowly but surely, and winter already awaits us with its frosty temperatures. With a stay at our resort you can escape the cold and the upcoming Christmas stress for a while and simply indulge in serenity and relaxation at the Bali Mandala. How about celebrating our annual Festival of Lights with us on December 24th?

Already a few days before Christmas, many of our staff members begin the preparations together, during which a very special, light-hearted atmosphere begins to spread throughout the resort.

Decorating the meditation hall and the restaurant with lights, as well as setting up two gigantic “Christmas trees” made of bamboo, make this an unforgettable experience for Christmas lovers as well as for anyone wanting to escape the hectic pre-Christmas season at home. Every year anew, the Festival of Lights is a heartwarming, unique and grounding celebration.

At Christmas Eve, our team members arrive at the resort with their children. Since last year we had to limit the age of the children to max. 15 years, otherwise all 78 children of our staff would show up. But unfortunately, there wouldn’t be enough space – even in our large mediation hall.

Everyone forms a big circle together with our guests, followed by a short “silent meditation” – or as quiet as it can be with so many children around ;)
Then we all sing a few Christmas songs together – in German, English and Indonesian – followed by a few obligatory and improvised encores. Finally, hugs are shared, presents are given, and the shining of the children’s eyes sparkle like the stars above.

Afterwards, the guests are treated with a festive dinner in the candle-lit restaurant, which concludes this very special Christmas evening in the Tropics.

Sound exciting? Then we would be delighted to welcome you at the Festival of Lights!

Lichtzeichen Bali Mandala Maggie our guest attendant

Bali Mandala News 2/2023

This is Part 1 of our new series “Our Team”, in which we introduce you to some of the Bali Mandala team members one by one.

Today: Maggie Elias.

Maggie has been an integral part of Bali Mandala for six years now. She is the good soul, contact person for guests, Rainer’s right hand, responsible for the loving design of the rooms and for all inquiries and bookings (also to make the impossible possible), Instagram manager and so much more.

If you write an e-mail to Bali Mandala, you can be sure that you are dealing with Maggie.

She speaks excellent German and as a native speaker of course English and Indonesian. Before she came to Bali Mandala she worked for different airlines in Germany in the administrative area.

But how did it come that Maggie and Bali Mandala found each other?

At the time, the Bali Mandala was looking for long-term guest support at the resort, and Maggie was planning to take a break from her job for a year. Friends of Maggie knew that she was planning a year abroad and introduced Maggie to the Bali Mandala.

After only a short time of getting to know each other, it was clear to Maggie that she would stay at Bali Mandala and quit her job. And so, one year has turned into six eventful years by now.

Here is her profile:

First name:
Maggie

Last name:
Elias

What do you do at Bali Mandala?
Maggie: Together with a part of the office team, which supports me energetically, I am the contact person for all matters of our guests. I take inquiries and bookings by e-mail, together with my team I am responsible for the design and cleanliness of the rooms, and I also like to step in where I am needed.

What is your favorite food?
Maggie: Beef Rendang – it’s not a Balinese dish, but it’s delicious. Unfortunately, you can’t get it everywhere.

What do you like to do in your free time?
Maggie: Discovering new places with my scooter. Relaxing and enjoying time for myself. Participate in local ceremonies.

What is your personal favorite destination?
Maggie: No particular destination, as I like to just ride through nature. But if it were to be an area, it would be around Sidemen and around Munduk.
